A video has emerged showing coast-based protesters calling out youths seeking to meet President William Ruto on behalf of Gen Zs protesting.

In the TikTok clip shared by @ianomedia254, the young protesters advised Ruto to address them all rather than meeting a fraction of self-imposed representatives.
Mombasa youth’s message to Ruto amid protests
The unidentified man who addressed the president warned young people against selfishness, saying it would lead to negative consequences.
“Young people should be careful. Do not bring us hunger issues, we are also hungry and we have problems. Let it not be seen that when the president is asking to meet Gen Zs you present yourself there because you know you will be paid. You can go talk, but we have no leader. If Ruto wants to speak to the youth, let him speak to the youth countrywide like he did when he was seeking votes,” he said.
They also asked the president not to rely on a few people pretending to be Gen Z leaders.
He also warned those who have been going to see the president that they would meet their fate, which has since fallen on those who are considered to be against the majority.
“We will show you that as Gen Zs we have strength. You cannot take our issues to the president. We have not seen any leader from Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale or Taita. All are from above. We are all getting the same issues, let’s respect each other. We are protesting peacefully, so who are you to represent us?” he added.

Ruto says he’s ready to meet Gen Zs for dialogue
The president recently stated his readiness to engage Gen Zs on X spaces and address all matters of national interest they raised during protests.
President Ruto spoke during an interview with a group of journalists at State House on Sunday, June 30.
He added that he understood the issues young people grappled with as he has youngsters in his house.
