On Thursday, July 4, the dailies spotlighted the political situation in the country, with details emerging about President William Ruto’s plan to shake up his Cabinet in a bid to quell the anti-government protests.
Elsewhere, Kenyan senators mounted pressure on the president to rid himself of baggage by scaling down his Cabinet and state departments to reduce the burden on the taxpayer.

The newspaper projects that President William Ruto might soon reconstitute his Cabinet to win back the trust of the Kenyan public.
According to Taifa Leo, Ruto is slated to give the sack to certain Cabinet Secretaries deemed as incompetent, and also undertake a reshuffle to enhance performance.
The president is said to be ready to undertake the changes this week, but the state of his current relationship with his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, seems to be the stumbling block.
According to the newspaper, the shakeup and drastic changes might see some of the deputy president’s allies.
Besides the Cabinet, Ruto is also slated to sanction changes in the leadership of the National Assembly, which has his side as the majority.
Committees will have their members removed and transferred as Ruto strives to endear his administration to the disgruntled Kenyan public.
Parliament has been on the spot over its role in abetting the formulation and actualisation of punitive government policies.
The draconian Finance Bill 2024 was passed in the National Assembly, triggering countrywide mass action protests.
“It is clear that the president is ready to undertake certain changes in his administration. However, it will be difficult for me to highlight where exactly the changes will be. But the changes are oncoming,” a source confided in Taifa Leo on the anonymity condition.
