The burial plans of the 12-year-old Rongai boy who was shot dead by police officers during the anti-finance bill protests have run into headwinds after a man claiming to be his father emerged.
Kennedy Onyango was shot dead last week at the height of the protests against the now-withdrawn Finance Bill 2024 in Ongata Rongai.
As the family plans to lay to rest the young boy this coming weekend, a man claiming to be Kennedy’s father has emerged and demanded to be included in the burial plans.
“I have not seen the body of my son since learning his death (through the media) because I need to ascertain whether he is dead,” he told NTV.

The man claims that he and Kennedy’s mother went their separate ways years ago, adding that he was the one who took care of the boy from 2015 to 2022 when his mother took him.
“I hope the government can help me transfer Kennedy’s remains to Suba because he has a family there,” he said.
On the other hand, Kennedy’s mum’s husband insists he is the boy’s father, adding they will bury the boy over the weekend in Homa Bay County.
Meanwhile, Kennedy’s postmortem results have shown that he was shot once in the shoulder and not eight times as widely claimed.
