Police are investigating an incident in which a woman succumbed to injuries after being attacked by her estranged husband in the Narok North sub-county.
Twenty-two-year-old Martha Njeri had run to her sister’s home in the Enabelbel area, where the suspect traced her.
How young woman met death in Narok
The deceased had sought refuge at her kin’s home after separation from her husband, Peter Lemaiyan, following a marital feud.
Sources confided in Citizen TV that Lemaiyan hacked Njeri with a machete before taking off from the scene.
Martha had gone to a latrine in her sister’s compound before she was heard screaming in pain.
She was left at the scene bleeding before she was ferried to a nearby hospital, where she died while on treatment.
“It was around 8pm, we had just come from work in Rugurutu. My sister went to the market to buy vegetables. She came back and then left to relieve herself. I then heard her screaming, saying Lemaiyan had hacked her,” Zipporah recalled painfully.
The tragic incident was booked at the Kisiriri Police Station, where officers immediately embarked on a probe.

Femicide in Kenya
This adds to the piling cases of women dying at the hands of their once lovey-dovey male companions.
Femicide cases in Kenya have been on a constant surge since the start of 2024.
In January alone, at least 14 women were killed by their love partners.
The cases became so frequent that they prompted reactions from all the quarters that mattered.
Kenya’s opposition chief, Raila Odinga, was among the concerned people.
He called for appropriate action from the government’s security agencies.
The veteran politician suggested that the murders would not be justified by any excuse, adding that the tragedies had met the description of a national emergency.
Data from Amnesty International shows over 500 femicide cases have been reported in Kenya since 2017.
