Nairobi Chief Officer for Health Facilities Geoffrey Mosiria has joined President William Ruto is dismissing claims of a massacre in Githurai during the anti-Finance Bill protests.

During the X space hosted by the president, a Kenyan claimed many people were shot dead by the police.

“On the issue of Githurai, you are saying there was one casualty, which is a lie. There is that killer cop, Murangiri (allegation) amekuwa akishoot watu. Watu wanazikwa. Nothing has been done. How long should we be talking about killer cops?” X user Osama Otero said.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Mosiria termed the claims as rumours meant to create unnecessary tension in the country.

Mosiria disclosed that the Nairobi County government never received reports of casualties in Githurai on June 25.

He argued that if there had been casualties, as Otero claimed, the county could have sent ambulances or taken the bodies to the City Mortuary.

“Let’s not engage in rumours that create unnecessary tension. The claim of 200 bodies is an exaggeration. As the Nairobi county chief officer of health and a youth who was following the president and Kenyans on X, I can confirm that we never received calls from Githurai regarding casualties necessitating the dispatch of an ambulance. Additionally, if such fatalities had occurred, we could have received visits from relatives at the City Mortuary looking for their loved ones,” Mosiria said.

At the same time, Mosiria urged youths to use X space sessions with the president constructively.
