Kericho County – Kelvin Kiptoo, a Grade 4 pupil from Chemobei Comprehensive School, Kapsoit Ward, Ainamoi Constituency, is making waves on the football field.

According to Kalenjins Online, Kiptoo currently serves as the school’s football captain and plays the pivotal position 10.

He was praised for his exceptional skill and determination in front of goal, which earned him the title of top scorer at various competitive levels.

The young striker’s goal-scoring prowess has been unmatched in several inter-school competitions, from the zonal to the sub-county level.

From July 10 to 13, Kiptoo will join a select team representing Kericho Sub County in the Primary County Championship, set to take place at Kipkelion West.

His talent and hard work have brought him to this prestigious level, where he will compete against the best young footballers from the county.

Who is Kiptoo’s coach?

Kiptoo’s impressive exploits can be attributed to his dedicated coach and teacher, Mr Kasiria Jefferson Kibet.

Kibet has played a significant role in nurturing the youngster’s talent and guiding him towards success through mentorship and support.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the coach explained that they noticed his promising career when he joined the school.

“Last year he was shy because he’s very tiny, so we kept encouraging him to grow in esteem and he has done well,” he said.

How does Kiptoo train?

The plan worked well, so much so that the coach made him the team captain, and he has done an excellent job mentoring his teammates.

Kibet added that the best thing about the Grade 4 student is that he’s also very good at his studies.

“He likes training with the seniors because he’s outcompeted his peers,’ the proud coach praised.

Kiptoo’s future looks promising

As Kiptoo prepares for the upcoming tournament, the community stands behind him, cheering for his success.

Kibet added that he looks forward to watching his protege’s football career flourish into a reputable player in Kenya and beyond.

“The good thing is that he’s a Chelsea fan, so you can tell he has his eyes set on the global front,” he concluded.

Kericho girl running barefoot outshines competition

Elsewhere, Mercy Chemweno was the star attraction at the Rift Valley Regional Games in Nandi County.

The youngster’s diminutive size caught the spectators’ attraction, something bolstered by her five-star performance.

Chemweno, who ran barefoot, was in the last position before regaining her composure to win the 3,000-meter race.
