During an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday, July 3, the CS revealed his close connection with Haji, describing him as his buddy apart from them coming from the same county.
Duale affirmed that Haji had been an intelligence officer from an early age, adding that he rose through the ranks before being appointed the Director of Public Prosecution.
“From an early age, he was a career intelligence officer and rose up to the position of Deputy Director. For you to rise to the position of Deputy Director in a National Intelligence Service, not only in Kenya but anywhere in the world, is highly coveted. Noordin Haji has an uncheckered career in the NIS.
From there, he transited to the DPP; he was the second director of public prosecution under the new constitution; Tobiko was the first one, and Noordin the second. He had also a good career. He didn’t finish his term during that period and now he’s in NIS,” explained Duale.
Duale dismissed any assertions that his support for Haji is because they are from the same community, affirming that those in the security space can attest to his competence.
What is Duale’s relationship with Gachagua
While dismissing a viral statement attributed to Haji, Duale stated that the NIS boss respects the Deputy President.
Duale said every member of the Cabinet holds the DP in high esteem and works with him to deliver Kenya Kwanza’s manifesto.
“He didn’t say that. Haji didn’t say that; he respects his bosses including the DP. Let’s not discuss the DP; he’s my boss, the second in command and those of us in Cabinet have a lot of respect for him. All of us have been given an opportunity to serve and work with the president for him to deliver on the manifesto,” he stated.
