Reflecting on her past, Frieda noted that it all started when she gave birth to her twins in 2020 as her weight increased, leaving her 30 kilograms heavier than she had been.

While attempting to reduce weight, she tried various fad diets, some of which led to hospital visits as her body began to break down.

What was her turning point?

Frieda’s wake-up call came in February 2018 when her daughter innocently asked if she had a baby in her stomach, despite not being pregnant.

Her sentiments were accentuated when Frieda’s knees also began to hurt, prompting a visit to the hospital, where she was informed that she was obese.

She transitioned to a healthier lifestyle, which meant making tough decisions about her diet by preparing different sets of meals and finding time for the gym.

The mother of three disclosed that the most difficult bit of the process was letting go of the food her body was used to.

“It was not easy diet-wise since losing weight is about what you eat rather than how much time you spend at the gym,” she chimed.

To stay on track, she eliminated sugar, enrolled in weight loss programs, and joined support groups for motivation.

How did she start the weight-loss journey?

She also mustered the motivation to join a gym in 2021, but the initial pain was overwhelming, and she backtracked several times.

“I made up my mind to have no excuses. Along the way, I learned that real change requires a lot of discipline,” she says.

Frieda posited that she started with aerobics and gradually progressed to running and strength training.

How has she benefitted from losing weight?

After years of training, her body has since adapted to her new lifestyle and rejects things like carbonated drinks or junk.
