Police said the Wednesday July 3, evening accident involved a PSV matatu belonging to 2 Ways Shuttle.
Reports seen by TUKO.co.ke indicate the matatu was heading to Eldoret before it crashed at Chembulet Bridge at 5.00pm.
Eight passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Iten County Hospitals for treatment.
Preliminary investigations show the tyre of the vehicle burst, which resulted in the driver losing control.
After losing control, the matatu veered off the road and rolled into a ditch, causing fatalities, two male and two female adults.
