A kind-hearted woman is devastated after her efforts to return a bright girl to school did not bear fruit.

Jenny Sanchi said she was in pain as the young girl, identified as Esther Wanjiku, broke her promise at the last minute.
Sanchi, a teacher, said she learned about Wanjiku’s plight from a friend who asked her if she knew anyone who needed a househelp.
For how long was Wanjiku away?
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Sanchi said Wanjiku’s mum, Ruth, was looking for work for her daughter, who was herding cattle at home.
“I asked my friend to tell me more about Wanjiku, and she told me about the girl. An organisation was sponsoring her, but she kept running away. When she finally ran away, they could not trace her. For one year, they could not find her.
However, my colleague told me she was at home after returning from her sister’s place. When she told me about her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) marks, I noticed that Wanjiku was a bright girl. I asked for her mum’s number and planned a visit,” she said.

Sanchi sat down with Wanjiku and talked to her, highlighting the need for education and why it was vital for her to return to school.
To her surprise, Sanchi said Wanjiku was open and ready to return to school after not stepping in class for a year.
“I reached out to the organisation that was sponsoring her and talked to them. They expressed their frustration but said they would give Wanjiku, a teen mum, another chance. We organised a meeting between Wanjiku, the organisation and me to talk more about the same,” Sanchi from Kajiado said.

On the day of the meeting, when Sanchi called Wanjiku, the Form Two girl changed her mind.
“Her tone was arrogant. She said she could not attend the meeting because she was busy. My heart sank. After all I had done, she still did not see the importance of education. It crushed me.
My heart bleeds. I have seen firsthand how education has saved me. I am so pained,” Sanchi said.
Why did father reject sponsor’s help?
Separately, Ndungu Nyoro shared the pained complaint of a sponsor whose help to a child was rejected by his allegedly alcoholic father.
The sponsor saw the boy’s case as presented by his former primary school teacher on Ndungu Nyoro’s Facebook page and decided to help.
When they went to take the boy, the father refused and insisted that he would take him to a day school instead.
