A video of wedding guests rejecting money from a Member of Parliament who voted yes for Finance Bill 2024 has gone viral online.

How much did MP Kawaya contribute for wedding?

Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka Musau, popularly known as Kawaya, sent the area MCA Peter Kilonzo, aka PK, with KSh 10,000 to give at the wedding, but all did not go well.

When given a microphone to speak at the wedding, which took place in Mbiuni ward, Mwala Constituency, Machakos county, Kilonzo announced that he had KSh 20,000 to give.

He indicated that MP Kawaya had given him KSh 10,000, and he personally contributed the KSh 10,000. But the emcees of the wedding and guests rejected the contribution.

The emcees and guests decided to contribute money to the newlyweds after rejecting Kawaya’s contribution. They ended up collecting KSh 12,000, surpassing Kawaya’s contribution.

“We cannot take the money which is like a cross because of the punitive financial bill, we are rejecting. Take back the money to him and tell him we will fight for ourselves,” one of the emcees said.
