Mombasa: Two families’ frantic search for their missing kin ended in horror after learning they were dead.
The bodies Denis Otieno and Joash Mbati were found lying cold in a dead in a morgue in the coastaal city.
For two weeks, nothing about Otieno had been heard by his family; his kin could not reach him via phone.
His disappearance came during the nationwide anti-finance bill protests.
Otieno’s mother, Coleta Achieng, and uncle, George Omondi, got a hint via social media that their loved one could be among the casualities of police action during the recent anti-finance bill protests.
They left their home in Kitale for Mombasa where worst fears were confirmed.
“My child was killed like a chicken. He was not part of the protesters. He was on his way home when he was shot,” a jaded Coleta told Citizen TV.

On their part, the family of Joash Ombati from Kisii were left to endure the pain of tragically losing their breadwinner.
His wife Lilian Ombati revealed the deceased had left home to go fend for his immediate family oblivious to the tragedy.
“He left me home coming to Mombasa to look for a job to provide for his family. I was told he was shot dead. I don’t know how the children will survice without him. I have nowhere to run to,” she said.
