Bomber Al Shabaab executed in Somalia

The military prosecutor said Monday, the mastermind of militant car bombs that killed 26 people and injured nearly 40 others in Mogadishu in 2017, was executed in Somalia. Abdulle Bule said al Shabaab member Abdikadir Abukar was convicted of a hotel bombing that killed 10, one near the sports ministry that killed 9, and a car bomb near an Italian restaurant in the capital that killed 7. Al Shabaab wants to overthrow the weak Somali government supported by the United Nations and enforce strict Islamic laws. It has steadily lost territory since the peacekeepers of the African Union arrived a decade ago, but continues to carry out frequent bombing in the capital. On Saturday at least 13 people were killed and 17 injured in a car bomb attack claimed by the al – Qaeda group near the president ‘s residence in Mogadishu.
